The Clique

Before King J was born, or was even an idea, his dad formed a band. I believe he was in his late teens, early 20's or around there. He and a group of his buddies were pretty well known around the Ceder City area. Where they would play for school dances and various events. They even once wrote a jingle for the Coleman outdoor products company. The years went on and eventually all of the band members went their own way.

The very first time I met the family back in Tennessee, I was introduced to the music of the Clique. I was learning the family card game and the tradition was to listen to the old band while playing.

Well a few years ago, I am not sure which one of them started the contacting, they all came back in contact with each other and decided to do a reunion. They met back up in Ceder City where they practiced and got re acquainted with each other. They decided to put on a performance at a local festival and the new summer tradition began.

So each summer for the last 3 years we have traveled down to see the cutest bunch of rockin Grandpa's that you ever did see. So far, with the help of my brother in law Jared, they have produced a CD and a DVD of their performances. Next year we think that we might try and do t-shirts. It is so fun to watch all of the grand kids of the band members dancing down in front of the stage. It brings a whole new meaning to the word groupie.

So for your viewing pleasure here is a video montage that one of the cousins put together of this last years show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzvpzT8P0MI Oh, and if you can't guess, our Grandpa Wayne is the one in most of the pictures. LOL

We love you Grandpa and are so proud of you.
