In Loving Memory

Our 4th of July was spent a little different this year. King J's grandfather passed away and we were able to travel to South Carolina for the funeral. It was one of the most beautiful services I have been to. He had been in the Navy for years, so there were full military honors. It was beautiful. This is a picture of the wreath I made from our extended family. (Thanks Steph) We forgot to take our camera. But visit here for many slide shows from the weekend.
We will miss you grandpa. Till we meet again!

In the kitchen
I didn't plan on spending time canning peaches right before surgery. But when they are free, what are you gonna do. This was the first year that the girls were big enough to help and we had such a great time. They LOVE helping in the kitchen, and I love having them there.
It is was a great start to replacing all of the canned goods lost in the move.

Helping Hands
I have been one lucky lady this week as I have been recovering. There have been so many wonderful people who have helped me during this first week of recovery.
But one special little girl has really shown concern for my well being. Princess M has been such a sweetheart. More than once she has been found holding my hand and placing the other on my back as she leads me down the hall to my bedroom. Or to bring me a drink or dinner in bed. Or she just pats my stomach and asks if I am feeling better.
This morning takes the cake though. For some reason, over last few days, she and Princess E have taken a liking to drinking out of the 2 baby bottles I still have lying around. Well this morning she asked me if she could get it out to play with it and I told her no that it was dirty in the sink and it had to go in the dishwasher and that it had to be unloaded first. She looked sad but then I didn't see or hear from her for a few minutes. We hear some noise coming from the kitchen and King J investigates. She and Princess E are emptying the dishwasher. Nothing special since it is one of their daily jobs. We tell them thank you for doing that and I will load it in a while when I get up.
A little while later, Princess M still hasn't emerged from the kitchen. I take a peak around the corner to find this.

HELP
So I am being a good patient, for the most part, and resting like I am supposed to. But I am slowly going insane. I am bored out of my mind. I can only handle having the computer sitting on my lap for so long before my legs go numb. There is only so much TV one can handle in one sitting. I take naps, but my back and hips are KILLING from so much laying around. King J is going to by me a new book today. So, HELP!!! What can I do in rest mode to keep my sanity?

I'm Home
And loving my drugs. :) Thank you all SO much for your thoughts and prayers. They were definitely felt. As it was posted already, surgery went really well. Faster than they thought and I had less scar tissue than was expected. My ovaries looked really healthy so no early menopause for me. They were able to get all of my cervix and uterus so no periods.
The only down part is they weren't regulating my drugs once they took me off of the pain pump and I had to ask for pain meds. So last night and this morning I was all off schedule and way past due and I am definitely feeling it now. Hopefully King J and I can get it back on track and I can get back to feeling great. But I am really excited that there weren't any complications and I only have recovery ahead of me.

Under the Knife
Well folks the day is finally here. Tomorrow morning I go in for a hysterectomy. Finally a Dr listened to me and decided that it is the best thing for this body. I am happy and sad all at the same time. I will be going on a small dose of blood thinners right after surgery to try and prevent any clots. Please, Please keep me and King J in your prayers today and tomorrow. Everything should be routine, but y'all know that when it comes to surgery's and my girlie bits, there are always life threatening complications.
I will make sure King J posts an update after I am in the clear.

Water or Coke?
This article was posted on one of the message boards that I belong to and I found it fascinating. I am not sure of the source, but I am sure I could track it down if anyone is needing it. Just made me grateful that water is always my drink of choice.
WATER
1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (Likely applies to half the world population.)
2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is mistaken for hunger.
3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as 3%.
4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.
5. Lack of water, the 1 trigger of daytime fatigue.
6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.
7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty Focusing on the computer screen or on a ! printed page.
8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop
bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water you should drink every day?
COKE
1. In many states the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.
2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in two days.
3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.
4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers:
Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds
Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.
5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour
a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.
6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.
7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into
the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake.
Thirty minutes before ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.
8... To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your
windshield.
FOR YOUR INFORMATION:
1. the active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.
2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup! (the concentrate) the commercial trucks must use a hazardous Material place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.
3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean engines of the trucks for about 20 years!
Now the question is, would you like a glass of water? or Coke?
