Shameless project showoff

So I just made this. :) I found a recipe for marshmallow fondant and I wanted to practice before I made the girls Barbie birthday cake next week. So what a better time than my own cake right? It was time consuming, but VERY easy. I couldn't be prouder. (is that a word lol) Here is the recipe, http://whatscookingamerica.net/PegW/Fondant.htm

Easter 2008

So I have many talented friends who are amazing with photography. I am no where near their ability at all. But I have to say I am VERY impressed with my very first attempt at trying to pretend. Oh and most of you will be getting a copy of this picture for your fridge. :)Thank you Grandma Christensen for finding their cute dresses. And thank you Grandma Cooley for the Easter money. It was put to very good use and we now have a whole bunch of new Zoo animals and a new puppy named Sadie. They both couldn't be happier, and we had a fun time at the store looking at all the fun things in the toy isle. They both found something else that they are going to save their money up for. They are really liking having their own money to spend on what they want to spend it on.
I absolutely LOVE this picture of Princess M. With her holding her alligator and making some sort of noise with her lips pursed together. It really captures her personality. To bad the resolution wasn't good enough to blow it up for an 8x10. I was sad.
Like I said above, Princess E is in LOVE with her new puppy. He even has his own purse carrying case, so he can go wherever we go.
Again, Happy Easter!!

Easter Fun

We have had a great Easter week this year. The girls got to attend 2 different Easter egg hunts. One of which was hosted by yours truly in our yard. It was attended by friends from the neighborhood and ward, as well as friends from one of the message boards I am a member of. We had probably 30-40 kids. We had to split it up between little and big kids.Princess M was a little disappointed with the loot she got that day, but I assured her there would be more at the next one.The second egg hunt, was at my Great grandmas old home. It was the Easter tradition growing up to attend this one. It always included a potluck, and we weren't disappointed. The girls made out well. I think they got more candy than they did at Halloween.Princess M was pretty cute. When she got about 5 pieces in her bucket, she turned around and said, "eh, that is enough." The real reason being a little dog ran past and she just had to go say hello. We had lots of fun early in the week making Sugar cookies and dying the eggs.

These were our 3 favorites. Many have asked, and we just colored them with regular old crayons before dipping them to get the designs on them.
The Easter Bunny was pretty giving this year. Normally he doesn't bring such big baskets. But he must have gotten a great deal at the after Christmas Disney store sale and felt he needed a reason to give the girls some new pj's and sleeping bags. :)

The new jammies match each of their sleeping bags. One is Cinderella and the other is Tinkerbell. It has been fun sleeping in them for the last 3 nights.

We hope you had a fun Easter too.

Our Favorite Birds

We spent another day at the Bird Zoo this week. But this time we were more selective where we spent our time. The girls definatly have a favorite. The peacocks, hands down. They were so friendly this time, we were able to feed them and they would come take it right out of our hand. Princess E really wanted to pet their, "fan" but they must have nerve endings because whenever she would barely touch it they would run away fast.
We also learned that when they crow it sounds awfully simmilar to a hurt cat meowing loudly. Princess M kept wanting to go find that kitty that was hurt.
I really like the flamingo's. They just look so pretty, and they make me think of the movies.
This guy has to be my favorite in the whole place. He is a condor. The first time we came, he was showing off his brute neck strength, by moving a tree limb with his neck. Then he would run around his cage trying to impress us with his speed.
This time he was just sitting on his perch, facing the sun, donning the yoga pose. It was so funny. He has his legs up in his chest and his wings open wide. Then his face is up and just basking in the warmth of the sun. I loved it!!

Sickos

With the change in the weather, it means all of the pollens are starting to come out. Which equals sick kids around here. Princess E became very familiar with the tissues last week. On her own she figured out a solution. Of course I had to take a picture. She now carries around her little packet of tissues everywhere she goes. Princess M just wanted a pretty picture of her too. :) I did always know that I would be the one with rag a muffin kids. :)

Shameless project showoff

I had the wonderful opportunity to make all the wedding flowers for a great friend this past weekend. It has been a while since I did such a big wedding so it was lots of fun to get the creative juices flowing again. It was a very fun wedding to do in that she had basic ideas of what she wanted, but really left it up to me to work the magic. Those kind always turn out to be the prettiest because I am not bound to a picture, or certain type of flower and can really use my talent to it's fullest. I will say this though, it sure was a lot easier to stand and work on my feet for 15 hours straight when I was doing it on a regular basis. I am so thankful for the makers of Tylenol, and that I went and got shoes with good arch support to help me make it through the day.
A HUGE thank you to Jay and Dean for letting me turn their home into my own flower shop for the weekend. It sure make it easier than having to go back and forth from much further away.

These centerpieces were beautiful! They used them for both the luncheon and the reception. This picture doesn't show it well, but for the evening, the vases were lit up with submersible pink lights. This was the second wedding I have done with the vases lit up, and I am going to urge every bride to do it. They are SO cool and just give it something a little extra.
I wished that Chelle could have been there to see it all. It was just spring everywhere in the reception hall at Wheeler Farm. Pink, pink, and more pink. It was gorgeous!
Congratulations Brandon and Jenny! Thank you for letting me be a part of your special day.

Prince M

It seems that more and more princess M shows signs that she really just might be a prince in disguise. Some of her favorite things include, worms, digging in the dirt, dinosaurs, making car/truck sounds, and watching basketball with dad. When she and Princess E play dress ups, we ALWAYS have to convince her that she is a princess to, not the prince like she tells us she is. We tell her that dad is the only prince in our house, that they both can be the princess. A few nights ago as I was putting them to bed, I gained more evidence that she really is a tom boy at heart.

I was in the middle of reading a story and she began pointing to Princess E and saying in a gruff scary voice "mell my finger, mell it! (giggle, giggle) Mell it M." To which Princess E was squirming away and saying " no, get it away from me!" I stopped reading and said what is wrong with your finger? So she turned to me and with a big grin on her face begins wiggling it towards me and saying, again in the gruff voice, "Mell it mom, its stinky!" I ask "why is it stinky?" She just gets a huge smile across her face and Princess E says' " It was by her bum!"
All I could do was shake my head back and forth and just say, "Oh, M. you are a girl, you are a girl. Girls don't do that kind of stuff, Oy!"

So I think every day we are realizing King J really does have the little boy he dreamed of. LOL

Carter Man

We had the privilege of watching one of the sweetest little boys last week. He was a daycare kid of a friend, who was having surgery. He was the dream child. So mild tempered and really just did his own thing all day long. He was so cuddly, and just was a joy.
It was fun to see how a little brother would fit into the dynamic of our family.

The Bird Zoo

So I have lived in this state for almost my whole life, and I had never been to the Tracy Aviary, or the Bird Zoo as the girls like to call it. It was SO fun. Despite being a bitter cold day, it was such a fun place. No crowds, just about any bird you could think of, and lots of shade for when it gets warmer. We got there right in time to help feed the pelicans. Each of the kids got to throw a few fish. To bad the were shorter than the railing, so they didn't really hit their mouths. But it was fun to watch anyway.
We took our new buddy Carter with us, and boy did he like all those fun birds.
Unfortunately my camera batteries died, so I didn't get any shots of our favorites, the flamingos and all the peacocks walking around. Or the condor that chased us back and forth as we walked past his cage. He was fun. He was about the size of Princess E and bobbed his head up and down as he ran.
We liked it so much we finally were able to buy a season pass. It was a deal at $40 and gives you admission to just about everywhere else in the state, as well as many places out of state.

My 2nd annual Birthday Pedicure

First of all if you have never had a pedicure you need to find some time and go get one. They are WONDERFUL!! Last year King J took me for my first one and I was in love. If I could afford it I would go every single month. There is something about doing something like getting your hair done, or getting a pedi or manicure that makes you feel so pretty and special. My mom decided that for each of our birthdays, this year she was going to give us a girls weekend away. I got to go up to Layton to our Aunts Ilenes house and just relax. No kids, no husbands and lots of girl time.
When I was getting ready to go, the girls were both pretty sad. Lately they both have been having a little separation anxiety whenever I leave the house with out them. We are not sure where it is coming from but they are always worried that I am not going to come back. Anyway, as they were saying their usual, "but we are really going to miss you..." I said "well you know how you really like the happy mommy better than the bad mommy?" They both said "yes we like her better!" " Well sometimes mommies need to go away with other mommies for a few days so that they can be nicer." To which they replied "OOHHH, OK mom. Go find the happy mom." he he

I had such a good time. I was able to sleep in my own bed without having any extra little bodies crawl in with me in the middle of the night. I woke up early and went on a long walk then had a relaxing time sitting in the massage chair as all the rough callouses on my feet were scraped away. They even surprised me by painting a cute daisy with a rhinestone center on my big toes. It looks so cute.

Mom forgot to bring something other than her tennis shoes for when we went to lunch afterwards, so she just sported the really stylish plastic, paper thin, flip flops. What a Hottie!

Thanks for a great weekend Mom!! I love you!

Nothing is safe any more...

Because both of our little princesses now know how to climb up to anything that they want. This is what I came up to when she kept disappearing and returning with candy. She has no fear. Notice she is standing on the tiny ledge of the sink. She just held onto the bottom of the cupboard and leaned back as she swung open the cupboard door. Oh, and notice her nice silky pajama pants. She has recently taken a liking to wearing her pajamas all day long. If I make her put clothes on, she just puts pajamas over the top. Crazy kid.

Bikey

We have a new friend at our house. His name is Bikey. Princess M fell in love with him on one of our many trips to the local DI. He was very reasonably priced at $2.00, so how could I tell her no. He is just her size, and her feet reach his pedals, and on most day's she will even use them.
But on other days, it is just more fun to carry him around with her. "Oh mommy, I just love Bikey! He is my new bess friend!"

Kindergarten Registration

I can hardly believe we almost have a kindergartner at our house. She has grown up so fast! She was so dang excited to go fill out the paperwork that would get her registered at school.
We went over and over that we were only registering, kindergarten did not start today. She kept saying that she knew, but when we got there she was upset that I wasn't just leaving her there to go to school. And filling out all this paperwork was "Boring!"
While we were there, all the classes were getting out of an assembly so they were all passing us in the hall. She turned and looked at all the kids and said very matter of factly, "Look at all these kids who haven't met me yet. They are all going to be so excited to meet me!" I couldn't help but giggle. I sure hope she keeps that self esteem. I know I sure could have used it growing up.
