Tornado Warnings

I decided last night that I have got to get a thicker skin to handle all the Tornado warnings I am sure we will witness with our new home.

A friend had just come over and the girls were having a great time playing in their room. I was busy watching a movie. It had been a gloomy day and we were just taking it easy. Suddenly the phone rings and it is the neighbor (and friends mom) she says "oh good you have the TV on and are in the basement." I say, "uh no I am watching a movie and we are upstairs." It was at that moment that I finally heard the sirens. She said, "we should be fine, but get in your basement. It is supposed to hit in 24 minutes."

I start to panic a bit, but gather the kids up and heard them to the basement and the play room. I am so grateful we moved a TV down there at Christmas time. I turn on the TV and we are right in the path of the storm. Thank goodness the girls were just content to play and were oblivious to what was happening. I finally get in touch with King J at work, so he has one more thing to worry about with the audit he is already handling this week at work.

Long story short, there wasn't ever a full tornado formed. Conditions were just perfect for one. We learned we have a perfect basement for going to for protection. I also learned I need to have the box of candles accessible in case the power is cut.

I am positive this wasn't the last we will see while living here. I am sure over time I will get more used to it and not freak out so much. Can we just build a little bubble around our house to keep us safe?

What I love about King J- day 6

And finally, what I love the VERY, VERY, most about King J is that I get to be with him through the eternities.

Forever can't come soon enough!

What I love about King J- day 5

I love all the little things that make King J who he is. I love his passion for his favorite team, the Jazz. I love how when they loose he plays NBA Live on his x box and kills what ever team just beat the Jazz in real life. I love how he puts hot sauce on everything. I love how his favorite thing to wear is t-shirts, jeans, and tennis shoes. I love how he only like Adidas shoes. I love how he checks CNN everyday to keep up on what is happening around the world. I love how he only ate lunch and dinner stuff for breakfast for so long. (sandwiches everyday on our honeymoon. :) ) I love how he likes to have a milkshake as often as possible. I love his unusual late night snacks that sound good at the moment, but when he explains them to me realize they are weird. I love how he cares about every ones feelings. I love how he takes time to talk to me throughout the day. I love how silly we get together sometimes. I love his desire to do what is right. I love how he is always looking for new things to keep us entertained. I love how he helps me every night with either the dishes or getting the girls ready for bed. I love watching him learn how to protect our home from creepy crawly intruders. I love watching him interact with his brothers and sisters. I love how much he cares for everyone in your life. I love how he honors his priesthood, and exercises it righteously.

And most of all, I love how he ALWAYS let me know that I am his Queen.

What I love about King J- day 4

I LOVE his work ethic! King J is honestly one of the hardest workers I know. He takes his responsability to be the provider very seriously, and really strives to do his best to for our family. He works really hard to not give his employers any reason to cut him if the need arises. Many of you know with our recent move he was pretty much not getting a new position, we were just grateful to be in a job. Well in the last week they have announced that he will be the new manager over EQ for the whole East Coast! Everyone told him that they thought when they brought him in from SLC that he was going to be taking that position anyway. Again, he was just grateful to have a job, and is so humble with the new responsibilities. I am SO proud of him.

Although doing "projects" around the house really aren't his favorite thing to do, since finishing his degree last fall, he really has taken an interest in finding ways to improve our house and all the little things that pop up. He is becoming quite the handy man.

Thanks hon for all you do to provide and take care of our little family and home.

What I love about King J- day 3

The next thing I love about King J is his sense of style! He he, no really I love his humor. He has a way of just making everyone around him feel so comfortable and I know a lot of that has to do with the jokes he is always cracking. I know that sometimes he sees that as an insecurity, but I find it very enduring.
I love to watch him in a group setting. He is always the life of the party. Thanks for always making me smile baby.

What I love about King J- day 2

The second thing that I LOVE about my sweetie, is what a great dad he is. He is never afraid to get down on their level. He loves to download shows that they can watch together and that they will really like watching. When I was pregnant with Princess E a guy at work gave him the best advise when he learned we were having a little girl. He told him that being the dad of little girls was great because you could act silly and like a kid. Having tea parties and playing house and no one would think the less of you. Where with little boys if you acted like that they would think you were crazy!

I think he really took that advise to heart. Especially when he reads "The monster at the end of the book" a favorite around here. And they only ever want daddy to read it because of the voices he does.

I couldn't have asked for a better man to be the daddy to my kids.

A week of things I love about King J - - Day 1

In honor of Valentines day this Saturday, I thought I would share with everyone, especially my lover, a few things that I love about King J.

One of the first things that comes to mind when I think about what I love about King J is, his thoughtfulness towards me. He is always so concerned with my feelings, and giving me the best gifts. He puts SO much thought behind anything that he ever does for me. Just to give an example, here is an excerpt from a journal. This was when he proposed to me.

"March 30, 02
He had it all planned out. Friday night, (3-15-02) He took me to see some of the big, nice housed on the Mtn. They were all lit up and beautiful. We stopped at a stop sign and he turned to me, told me he had one more place to show me. But I had to be blindfolded. I was SO excited. We drove a little bit and I asked him if he was nervous at all? He just said "what are you talking about?" I told him, "well a lot of guy's in your shoes are nervous.:) " He stops the car and tells me we are there. But we have to walk a little ways.
We get out and he starts walking away. Keep in mind, I'm still blind folded. I call for him to help me because I can't see. I make him kiss me for not helping. :)
He walks me to the edge of somewhere and positions me just so. Then he takes the blind fold off. I was looking out from the side, very edge, of the mountain, at all the city lights of Chattanooga. It was beautiful. I looked down and King J was on 1 knee and he asked me to marry him. I told him yes of course. Neither of us cried. But we both laughed and held each other for a long time.
Apparently he was very worried about me liking the ring he picked out. I had shown him some I liked, but ultimately I wanted him to surprise me. He did a wonderful job. I LOVE it!"

There are SOOO many more things and times I could share when his concern for me came into play. This is only a tiny glimps of that. Thank you baby, for always making me feel so special.

This is your hair. This is your hair on our couch.

P.S. Did you notice she is into the dress herself stage? Yes that is a brown and pink striped sweater vest under the orange shirt. I told her to put another shirt on with the vest and this was the result. :) Oh well, she is happy!

Out of the mouths of babes

"Dear Heavenly Father. Please tell Jesus thank you for kitties, noodles and presents. Amen"

I truly love the simplicity and sincerity of a 3 year old's prayer. :) It is in those sweet moments that it makes you feel so good to be their parent and to know you are doin something right. :)

A girls weekend

So most if not all of you know that it is Super bowl Sunday. And many of you also may know what a huge football fan I am, NOT. With this knowledge of my love of the game, coupled with the fact that it is on so late here in the South, I opted to spend a nice weekend at home with the princesses while King J made the trek up to his parents for the weekend to enjoy the festivities that go along with the big game.

But those of us left at home were not going to just sit around and do nothing. Our weekend started with the princesses dressing themselves in skirts (princess E would wear one every day if she had enough) and doing their own hair. (so fun to see them do it all by themselves.)

We then spent the afternoon shopping for some new shoes for Princess E. I never fully appreciated all the hand me downs we have been blessed with over the years until this last year when we had to start paying for it all ourselves.

Next we came home and had the dinner of champions, Ramen Noodles (their favorite) . Next we got our jammies on, watched Magic School bus and painted our nails. I even got a little fancy and did some flowers on our toes.

So to finish off our fun Girls weekend, when the rest of the country is watching the big game. The princesses and I will be tuning into Animal Planet for "Puppy Bowl V" while we enjoy some great junk food.

Hope y'all had a great weekend too!
